Comcast® is one of the most popular cable and internet service providers in the US today. This wireless provider always strives to excel in their service by offering the best internet speed, new services, etc., to their customers. Currently, the new venture of Comcast® is an XFINITY® Flex streaming service. This 4K streaming box comes with a voice remote control and offers access to online video services for their XFINITY® customers. Comcast® online video services include Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Showtime, and HBO® along with its home security and automation services and Wi-Fi mobile service.
This latest bundle of Comcast® is not exactly a cable service, rather it aims at increasing the number of their internet-only customers. Furthermore, the customers will have to pay $5 every month in order to avail of this service. In addition, the consumers can upgrade their current service plan to full XFINITY® X1 service that offers a cloud video recording service, access to hundreds of live channels, and an overwhelming number of on-demand titles.
The head of the XFINITY® services, Matt Strauss, said, “XFINITY® Flex will deepen our relationship with a certain segment of our Internet customers and provide them with real value.” He also added, “For just five dollars a month, we can offer these customers an affordable, flexible, and differentiated platform that includes thousands of free movies and shows for online streaming, an integrated guide for accessing their favorite apps and connected home devices, and the ease of navigating and managing all of it with our voice remote.”
The XFINITY® Flex streaming box also offers a number of television shows, free online movies, and live channels such as Pluto TV, ESPN3, Tubi TV, YouTube, Xumo, Cheddar, etc. Furthermore, with voice control and the integrated guide, customers can easily browse their favorite channels, purchase or rent online movies from the respective digital store, listen to music from XITE, Pandora, and iHeartRadio. In addition, the XFINITY® 4K streaming box lets the customers access their digital lockers by simply pairing their accounts with Movies Anywhere®.
This can be a confusing option to all the net nerds out there who prefer to purchase their setup box and manage their services themselves. However, the service seems to ideal to meet the business goals of the wireless provider. This is really significant for the company since Comcast® lost around 0.5 million of their television customers in 2017 and 2018. However, despite this plunge in the number of customers, Comcast® remains to be the largest television service provider in the United States with around 21 million subscribers. On the other hand, the wireless provider gained more than 2.27 million internet customers in the same period. Currently, the internet customer base of Comcast® is reported to be around 25.10 million as of now.
